Thank you for your consideration to participate in “the fastest sport on two feet”. Boys lacrosse is a game of speed and skill, and the SDCLOA requires its officials to have the physical capability and mental aptitude to keep up with the game's demands. Our organization has an intensive training regimen and new officials will be subject to a 2-year probationary period. Upon completion of the probationary period, each official will be evaluated and deemed certified if that individual has proven to grasp the rules, concepts, and physical demands of the game.
Our training module consists of eight classroom sessions and two on-field scrimmages that address the rules and game mechanics. We prepare our officials, experienced and non certified to handle game management smoothly. Our goal is to have the players and schools to compete on a level playing field with good sportsmanship and safety as our main objectives. We take these goals very seriously and strive for excellence each time we are on the fields.
Experience as a lacrosse player, coach, or prior officiating is preferable, but not required.
Annual dues are $100 plus each member must maintain liability insurance. (Mandatory). The 2021/22 training dates have been posted.
